Visit Nepal ¹98: Plan of Action

This division is clearest in the two main manuals published by the Visit Nepal 1998 secretariat. The first was the Visit Nepal ¹98: Plan of Action, an off-stage manual published in Nepali that outlined goals and achievements of VNY 98.

The manual begins with an open letter of inspiration to the citizens of Nepal by (the late ) King Birendra. In the letter, the King tells of the start of VNY 98 and of how people will be surprised to find all the fascinating culture, arts, and industry of Nepal. The King ends by stressing the importance of tourism for Nepal¹s development. Next is a letter by Prime Minster, Girijaprasad Koirala, which thanks the people who made the book possible. This in turn is followed by a letter from Bim Bahadur Rawal, chief of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.

The body of Visit Nepal ¹98: Plan of Action is divided into three parts. Part 1 of the manual describes the Visit Nepal 1998 logo, theme, and promotional slogan. Part 2 outlines the bureau¹s first attempts and initial successes. It lists the business participation and "tie ins," and the cooperation between media and world tourist organizations.

Among these are the Commission for South Asian Regional Cooperation in Tourism, the Asian Pacific Beauty Contest, and the Foundation for Aviation and Sustainable Tourism. The majority of the manual is devoted to part 3, which outlines the events that were planned for 1998. These included the marketing plan with tie ins with the Indian Film Festival, SARC, Asian Paints, National Trading Ltd., Aqua Mineral Water, and the Rising Nepal Newspaper. It also outlines the many events that were planned for 1998.
